While every city in the US has some kind of interesting history, few can boast being in the midst of so much rich history as Wilmington, North Carolina. If this port city could talk it would have much to say with more than 250 years of history to cover. The community was founded in 1733 but was not named until 1739/40 in tribute to Spencer Compton, Earl of Wilmington.
